Frequently asked questions
Here are answers to some of the more common questions we receive. This isn’t an exhaustive list so if you have a question not on the list, please get in touch with us, we’d love to hear from you.
We don’t sell Thorvald to farms. Instead, we offer it through a farming-as-a-service (FaaS) model. So, no capital investment is required, and no maintenance costs are paid, meaning low risk and high flexibility for the grower/viticulturist.
Light treatment is offered through the season as a complete service with field mapping, treatment deployment and maintenance performed by us.
We are inviting partners to develop and deploy further tasks to fill the large field of opportunities for robotics in agriculture. If you want to be a test farmer or develop tools to mount on Thorvald, please contact us.
In theory, yes. However, we are currently only commercially available with light treatment for strawberries and vines.
That said, we are involved with a number of research projects to develop new tools and move to other crops so please contact us.
Many growers and viticulturists don’t realise that their farms and vineyards are already pretty well set-up for robotics... straight lines are very helpful, and Thorvald is comfortable in polytunnels and open fields as well as on slopes. In the first instance however, it’s probably best to contact us and we can talk about your specific site.
You may be surprised, but yes, absolutely. Contact us to find out more.
In all likelihood – yes. Thorvald is modular, autonomous, optimised for all fields and rough terrains and is equally happy in open fields, polytunnels, vineyards and so on.
The best first step though is to contact us and we can begin talking about your specific site.
We have shown in academic trials that Thorvald can protect salad crops against powdery mildew using UV-C and we are working on commercialising a Thorvald platform for these crops in both glasshouses and fields.

In the first instance, contact us and we can begin talking.
Yes. We are open to academic partnerships which help further push the boundaries of agricultural robotics through Thorvald.
You will need some technical knowledge, but contact us and we can begin talking.
We are growing rapidly and our door is always open to hearing from would-be new recruits. In the first instance contact us with your CV/resume and a covering letter too and one of the team will get back to you.
